There are still many of these homes from the early Dutch settlers still standing. In my town of Closter there are many of these homes that date back to as early as 1710.
As communities started to form, the architecture began to change and ultimately, Bergen County became an eclectic mix of architectural design. Some of the most popular styles include the Cape Cod, Ranch, Saltbox Colonial, Split level, Raised Ranch, Tudor, Traditional Colonial, and even the Craftsman house sold as a kit from Sears. Each one of these styles adorned a completely different set of details unique to that architecture.
